Update on the House Fire at 1301 Lancaster Avenue

Neighbors -

As many of you know, there was a house fire at 1301 Lancaster Avenue on Wednesday morning, October 13, 2010. The house was severely damaged though the early inspection indicates that it can be rebuilt. The family, including their young son and dog, are safely staying in temporary housing.

The RSCA conveyed the outpouring of concern and offers to help to the family. They indicated that if people wish to make donations- gift cards would be most helpful. They have received initial donations of clothing and food but of course, will need much more in terms of basic necessities as they await action from the insurance company.

If you are interested in making a donation to the family the RSCA determine that the most secure way to do so is to choose from the following options:

1) Mail a gift card to the Knight Family 1301 Lancaster Avenue, Pgh PA 15218. Note- please do not drop money or gift cards off at the house. Mail is being delivered to the post office where the family is personally picking it up.

2) You may drop off donations at the next RSCA board meeting scheduled for November 1st at 7:00 PM at the Wilkins School Community Center.

Again, thank you for your concern and support.

RSCA's Mission:
The Regent Square Civic Association (RSCA) serves all the residents, businesses, and property owners in Regent Square, a neighborhood comprised of sections of four municipalities: Edgewood, Pittsburgh, Swissvale and Wilkinsburg.
It is our goal to maintain a sense of community and continuously improve the quality of life in our neighborhood. The RSCA acts as a liaison to government agencies, organizes community events, initiates neighborhood improvements, collaborates with other community organizations, disseminates information to the community, and operates as an advocate on community-wide issues.
The RSCA is a not-for-profit volunteer-led community association with a membership-elected board of directors. We aim to increase community membership and participation in the RSCA, as these are integral ways for individuals and businesses to make a positive impact on their community.
