The RSCA presents a calendar of upcoming Regent Square events through this website as well as through the RSCA Newsletter. These events add to the unique character and sense of community in our neighborhood. RSCA sponsored events are listed in bold type. Other events in the Pittsburgh area can be found on several event calendars available here.

February, 2010

  • Monday, February 15, 2010, 7:00 PM - RSCA Board Meeting. Dunning's Grill, 1100 S Braddock Ave, 15218. Regular monthly meeting of the RSCA Board. All are welcome to attend these meetings to voice a community issue, volunteer to help, or just to find out what's going in Regent Square.   • Sunday, February 21, 2010, 4:00 PM - 10:00 PM - Haiti Rising. The Map Room Grill, 1126 S Braddock Ave, 15218. A benefit to rebuild St. Damien's Hospital and Orphanage, Port Au Prince. The benefit will include Haitian food, music, poetry, stories, and an art auction. There will also be raffles, baskets, and a grand prize drawing. No cover.
  • Wednesday, February 24, 2010, 6:30 PM - RSCA Community Forum on Proposed Expansion of the Environmental Charter School. Evironmental School at Frick Park Auditorium, 829 Milton St, 15218. The RSCA will be hosting another community forum concerning the proposed expansion at The Environmental Charter School at Frick Park. The session will be held in the auditorium at the ECS on Wednesday, February 24, 2010. It will begin at 6:30 PM. All are welcome to attend! March, 2010

  • Sunday, March 7, 2010, 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM - Late Winter Geology Tour. Meet at the Biddle Street Parking lot on Braddock Avenue. You must preregister for this Event!!! Registration will close at 50 participants, so be sure to sign up early. Join Albert Kollar, geologist with the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, for this unique trip back in time to when Braddock Avenue was the Monongahela River and Pennsylvania was close to the equator. Using the rocks and formations in Frick Park, participants will learn about important geological and paleontological periods.   • Saturday, March 20, 2010, 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM - Energy Efficiency Workshop. Mifflin Avenue United Methodist Church, 905 Mifflin Ave, at Whitney Ave. Eastern area neighborhoods are once again partnering with the Community Design Center of Pittsburgh to put on another free workshop for homeowners interested in improving the value of their homes. This year's workshop will look at making homes more energy efficient. There will be presentations and then open time for participants to talk with the presenters. In addition, volunteer architects from the Community Design Center of Pittsburgh will offer a limited number of individual free “mini-consultations” on selecting the proper windows and doors for your home.   • Saturday, March 20, 2010, 7:30 PM - Happy Birthday WSCC. Wilkins School Community Center, 7604 Charleston Ave. Let's eat cake, lots of cake, make a toast, and belt out a raucous version of Happy Birthday together on March 20th and celebrate the 31st birthday of the WSCC. It's going to be a blast. Spend the evening listening to the Tania Grubbs Jazz Quartet while sipping wines and sparklers selected by Chris Forbes (instructor for the wine tasting series), taste incredible birthday cakes prepared by Cunningham Cakes and Dave Green, nibble on other treats, bid at the silent auction on jewels, theater tickets, a home energy assessment (worth $400) and much more. Children will decorate birthday cupcakes. Dave Edwards of Art Energy Designs will host an art show. Come and socialize with your friends and neighbors and meet new people too. It will be even more fun with all of you there! Tickets are $20 before 3/12 and $25 after. Children 6 and under are free; over 6 $5.00 before 3/12, $7.00 after.
