Calendar of Events

The RSCA presents a calendar of upcoming Regent Square events through this website as well as through the RSCA Newsletter. These events add to the unique character and sense of community in our neighborhood. RSCA sponsored events are listed in bold type. Other events in the Pittsburgh area can be found on several event calendars available here.

July, 2010

  • Monday, July 12, 2010, 7:00 PM - RSCA Board Meeting. WSCC, 7604 Charleston Ave, between S. Braddock and Milton Ave. Regular monthly meeting of the RSCA Board. This meeting was moved from the first Monday of the month because of the 4th of July holiday. Will return to the regular meeting schedule in August. All are welcome to attend these meetings to voice a community issue, volunteer to help, or just to find out what's going in Regent Square.   • Monday, July 12, 2010 to Friday, July 16, 2010, 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM - Vacation Bible School. Held at the Mifflin Avenue United Methodist Church, 905 Mifflin Avenue. “Galactic Blast” takes kids on an outer space voyage praising God. Through daily Bible Mission, kids will see space like never before, gain a new perspective of our planet earth, and learn easy “green” earth tips they can practice at home. Each day there will be Bible Story time, Crafts, Music, Discovery Time and snacks. Registration is $5.00. Please call the church office at 412-731-2511 to register.   • Saturday, July 17, 2010, 7:00 PM to 11:30 PM - The 3rd annual urban wilderness celebration to benefit Nine Mile Run Watershed Association. Lower Frick Park, Fern Hollow, Lancaster Ave. entrance. Fantastic food, delectable drinks, lively entertainment and super surprises under bigger tents. Entertainment by the Mon River Ramblers, with DJs J-Malls and High-Top Wrangler! Rain or Moonlight! $60 to join in for supper at 7 PM by Point Brugge Cafe and music from The Mon River Ramblers. $20 to join in at 9 pm for beer, snacks, two of the area's top DJ's and Frick Park after dark.   • Wednesday, July 21, 2010, 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM - Walk in the Woods at Frick Park by the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy. Meet at the Frick Environmental Center. These popular Wednesday-night walks in the woods run from June through September, visiting a different regional park each week. Docents familiar with the parks and their neighborhoods provide a tour that touches on the history, ecology, and improvements to the parks over the years. The walks are free.   • Saturday, July 24, 2010 to Thursday, July 29, 2010 - Frick Park Lawn Bowling Club (FPLBC) hosts North East Division Open. 7300 block of Reynolds Street, in the Point Breeze section of Pittsburgh, across the street from Frick Art and Historical Center. August, 2010

  • Sunday, August 1, 2010, 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM - Butterfly Walk with Walt Shaffer at Frick Park by the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy. Meet at the Frick Environmental Center. These popular Wednesday-night walks in the woods run from June through September, visiting a different regional park each week. Docents familiar with the parks and their neighborhoods provide a tour that touches on the history, ecology, and improvements to the parks over the years. The walks are free.
