Important RSCA Meeting 6/7 at 6 p.m.

The regularly scheduled RSCA Board Meeting Monday 6/7 at 7 p.m. has been cancelled. Rather, we will be meeting at 6 p.m. at Wilkins School Community Center in the large room downstairs for the purpose of
facilitating an informational session with the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy about plans to build a number of outdoor learning spaces in Frick Park. The first one of these spaces will honor the memory of Kate and Peter Ambrusko and was first proposed to be in Turtle Park near the Environmental Charter School on Henrietta St. The goal of the meeting is to provide information about the PPC’s proposal, timeline and status of the project and to answer community questions and concerns. There has been a great deal of dialogue about this emotional project and the RSCA requests that participants join the meeting with the intention of learning more about the project in an open, respectful and engaged manner. City Council representation is likely to attend. Please see the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy website or the RSCA website for more detailed information about the project.

Neighborhood Safety and Awareness

With the nice weather, so goes an increase in the talk about crimes in the neighborhood. Stolen porch items, break ins, missing bicycles, etc. Please be aware of what’s happening on your street, lock doors and windows at all times, remove ladders and other climbing structures from the perimeter of your home, increase outside lighting, watch neighbors' houses and have someone pick up mail and newspapers when you travel. Police recommend that you contact them for every crime--don’t assume it’s too petty to report. Contacting the police enables them to track any increases and provide additional patrol. Find out the phone number for your local police and post it in an easily accessible area. See CTAC Online for more information http://www.ctaconline.org/home.asp.

Plea for Volunteers

Please consider volunteering to join the RSCA in a volunteer role. Many people contact us with great ideas but our accomplishments and programs are limited by the number of active volunteers available to support these ideas. There a number of ways to help the community: become a board member, volunteer to lead an activity or event, spearhead a new or existing initiative, encourage neighbors and friends to become RSCA members...the possibilities are up to our imagination and level of involvement. Check out RSCA website for more information or for more information or discussion about how you would like to participate. Contact a board member (listed on the website www.regentsquare-rsca.org) or email contact@regentsquare-RSCA.org.

RSCA July and August Board Meetings

Due to the 4th of July holiday, the July meeting will not be held on the first Monday of July, but will be held on July 12th at the Wilkins Community Center at 7:00 pm. All RSCA members and residents are welcome. We will return to our regular meeting schedule on August 2nd.
