Mike Epitropoulos, Swissvale Borough Council representative from Regent Square alerted us that Swissvale Borough wants to pave over the brick streets. There was a significant water main break at the intersection of Trevanion and Macon last week and the borough patch paved over a section of Macon. According to Mike, the issue of paving our streets is a frequent topic of discussion at the Borough Council meetings and with few exceptions, council enthusiastically supports the move.
If you would like to weigh in on this issue, please do two things-
1) Attend the RSCA sponsored meeting tomorrow (Monday, 6/28) at the Wilkins School at 7:00 to discuss this issue (and the issue of making Sanders a one way going into the neighborhood).
2) Please send this email to everyone that you know in the Swissvale portion of Regent Square. In our experience, people have very strong feelings about paving the streets and I’d like to ask for your help in getting the word out.
Notices will be around the neighborhood and you are also welcome to do so. Just please remove them afterwards. In the future, we may need support in attending Borough Council Meetings or contacting Swissvale Council.
Finally, consider running for a Swissvale Borough council seat. Regent Square is sorely underrepresented and we need active participants from our area!
