Overall Summary:

Recommendations for Action

Summary:

After the initial brainstorming sessions, the three breakout groups presented their ideas to the entire group.  Based on the other groups’ presentations, the breakout groups then reconvened to create a list of short- and long-term suggestions for the business district.  Each person in attendance then voted for his/her three most preferred short- and long-term items. The results were as follows (those with the highest number of votes being listed first).

3-       Put up holiday lights in storefront windows along business district

Long-term Initiatives

2-       Enhance visibility of storefronts (ex. keep lights on until 2 a.m., prune trees, aim lights onto storefronts,…)

3-       Investigate current zoning codes for all municipalities.

Long-term Initiatives

1-       Add signage (ex. when entering Regent Square business district, for handicap parking spots,…)

2-       Encourage awnings or canopies

3-       Use more color on facades

Others

1-       Remove postings from windows and sidewalls (ex. menus, flyers, etc.)

2-       Light walls under canopies

3-       Improve general maintenance (trees, facades, etc.)

4-       Investigate funding sources for improvements

Streetscape Design; Gateways and Key Intersections; Traffic & Parking

Short-term Initiatives

1-       Install vertical banners along Braddock Ave. from Forbes to Parkway
