The Run Around the Square was, yet again, a festive and successful event! On Saturday, August 25th, 1,490runners, joggers, walkers and dogs were registered to take off through the streets and trails of Regent Squareand Frick Park. These participants had a morning of fun, sweat, entertainment, competition, and community spirit!

The run was off to a great start at the big balloon arch!

Who says that only kids have fun?

Are you sure that this is safe to drink? (Honest, it is!)

Pat and Patty Fallon were there. They also help cleanup the I-376 intersection regularly too.

The end is near? Shades of the '60s...but this is just the end of the run for 2001.

Runners were entertained by full bands...

And, one by one, folks crossed the finish line.

Folks even showed up in costume to play keyboard for runners....

And there was also some cool clarinet.

Dick Wilford, who supervises all maintenance in Frick Park for Citiparks, was around making sure that things were OK for the big event.

Dino Deflavio, owner of McBrooms and D's in the business district, was there with refreshments.

There were lots of prizes for everyone.

And wow - lots of people at the finish line!
